Frequently Asked Questions

Is raw feeding safe for my dog?

Absolutely. As a licensed veterinary technician, Kristen (Owner of SK Prime Pastures) understands canine digestive physiology. Dogs have powerful stomach acid (pH 1-2) designed to handle raw meat and eliminate harmful bacteria. Our USDA-certified processing and proper handling make raw feeding as safe as the steaks you serve your family.

How do I transition my dog from kibble to raw?

Kristen recommends a gradual 7-10 day transition. Start by mixing 25% raw with 75% current food for 2-3 days, then increase to 50/50, then 75/25, and finally 100% raw. This allows your dog's digestive system to adjust naturally without upset.

How much raw food should I feed my dog?

Based on her veterinary training, Kristen suggests starting with 2-3% of your dog's ideal body weight daily for adult dogs, split between two meals. Active dogs may need more, senior dogs slightly less. Monitor your dog's weight and adjust accordingly.

Can I feed the same beef to my family and my dog?

"That's exactly what we do at home," says Kristen. Our grass-finished beef meets the same USDA standards for human consumption. Many customers grill steaks for dinner and use trimmings and organ meat for their dogs - it's the same premium quality throughout.
